70 Year Old Armed Basketball Coach Saves Himself and Two Female Students from Armed Attackers
On February 1, 2013 after dark in Detroit, MI, a 70 year old basketball coach was walking two of his female basketball players out to their cars at Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior High School. It was a good thing he did, otherwise we may be reading about two female teenagers raped, beaten, murdered, or some combination thereof. While the three were walking across the parking lot, two men approached them; one pulled out a gun and put it to the man's face as he grabbed a chain around his neck. The coach, who has a license to carry a concealed handgun, pulled it out and shot both of the attackers. One was found in the median a short way away. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to a local hospital.
No one else was injured in the incident and the coach will likely not face any charges since he acted in self-defense.
